Optimistic - Valen is a real happy-go-lucky kind of guy. He's almost always got a smile on his face and has the kind of cheer that can easily become annoying to others. Though he does acknowledge the bad things that can happen in life, he tries to always look on the bright side and focuses on the good things rather than the bad.

Personable - There is nothing Valen likes better than to be surrounded by other people. He hates being alone with a passion and will seek out company when ever possible.

Playful - He's a real playful kind of guy. Though he's grown out of playing practical jokes, he still finds great joy in telling bad jokes and horrible puns and making people groan even as they laugh.

Flirtatious - To Valen, flirtation comes as easily as breathing. It is natural to him and something he does without thinking about it. One would think him a tease, but he genuinely means what he says. Hes a flirt, but he's not one to give a false compliment.

Protective - At first glance Valen might not seem the type, but he's a man with a protective streak a mile wide. This applies especially when it comes to the young, be they human of pokemon. He can not help but want to care for them and protect them from the harsher realities of the world around them.

General - Typically considered to be attractive but not classically handsome, Valen is a man who catches the attention of many.

Height - Standing at a full six feet two inches tall in his bare feet, Valen is a man who is quite firmly at the tall end of the human size scale.

Build - Though his shoulders are wide, over all Valen's frame is lean. He is well muscled, in the lean dense packed manner of a dancer or a martial artist rather than the bulky manner of a weight lifter or a wrestler.

Skintone - Naturally a rather pale tone, Valen's skin has become tanned from long years outdoors.

Scars - Valen possesses a number of scars. Most are the small scars which come hand in hand with every day life. The worst is a long scar down his left side, legacy of a fight with man who was trying to steal the treasures of the Bell Tower.

Hair - Valen wears his black hair long enough to brush his shoulders. Typically it's pulled back into a short tail.

Eyes - Mid Grey with short dark lashes. Valen is starting to develop laugh lines.

Clothing - When it comes to clothing, Valen’s choices are rather unique, at least compared to most people. He wears a rather traditional styled monks robe, in shades of black and purple. Underneath that he wears a fairly standard black tee-shirt and black pants. On his feet he prefers to wear the traditional Zori, rather than the more common sneakers or boots. He carries with him a tall staff. Not only is it used in several religious ceremonies which he can perform, but its rather handy for self-defence and the calluses on his palms show that Valen knows well how to wield it as a weapon.

History

Age 0 - 1
- Valen is the third of three children, born in Ecruteak City to a typical middle class family.

Age 2
- Valen's little brother is born

Age 3 - 8
- Life is typical for a young child turning these years. Valen sneaks into the gym many times, and Abigail often experiments with Ghost type forms.

Age 9
- Valen learns that there is a family tradition of giving one child from each generation into the line of the Monks of the Bell Tower monastery.

Age 10
- Though they are quite young for it, on the  one morning when they wake in their new home, Abigail is a haunter, having shifted from her usual pikachu sleeping form. Valen and Abigail both feel it and know deep within him that this is who they truly are.

Age 11 - 17
- Life is fairly dull during these years. Occasionally Valen is allowed out, where he and Abigail still sneak into the gym to watch the pokemon battles/ He also makes friend with the infamous 'dancing girls of Ecrutreak".
- Valen and Abby continue to play pranks, usually on the stuffiest of the older monks. Sometimes they are caught, and sometimes they are not.

Age 18
- The Bell Tower is attacked by a group of die-hard Team Rocket grunts who are after the Bells. Valen and Abigail are the ones who stand between the invaders and the youngest children of the monastery. They evacuate the children, but are stopped by a grunt before they came make their own escape. The man has trained his pokemon to attack humans. Valen engages in a physical fight with the man and his pokemon, while Abby grapples with the man's hoot-hoot daemon.
- The end result of the battle is a barley conscious and rather badly bleeding Valen but they come out the victors nonetheless.

Age 18 - 25
- Valen and Abigail spend much time reading up on old battle techniques from the time when humans and pokemon fought side by side. They begin to train harder after the monastary's fighting masters.

Age 26
- A call is put out amongst the monks for someone willing to head out into the world and spread the good deeds of their order. Valen and Abby immediately volunteer.
- Heading for Enera, Valen decides to go to the Pokemon professor for the region and see about getting himself a pokemon
- At the professors lab, Valen not only gets himself a partner, in the form of a shiny Ralts, but also finds himself signing up for gym battles, coordinator contests and breeding shows.

Thoughts on Form

Valen loves Abby’s settled form. To him she represents the freedom he lost when he became a monk and the playful side of himself that he had to set away for so long. Her ghostly form’s ability to completely ignore physical obstacles, is like a direct nod to his hatred of being penned in.

Personality

Abby is very much like her human. She’s playful and loves a good joke just as much as Valen did. She claims not to like the bad jokes that her human half tells, but she always smiles even as she’s groaning. She is perhaps somewhat more mature than Valen acts, displaying more of the serious side which the human tends to hide.

Appearance

When you first look at her, Abby seems pretty standard as far as Haunter go. She is maybe slightly taller than the average haunter, being around five feet three and a half inches and weighing pretty much nothing, as is normal for the species. The real difference between Abby and a normal haunter is seen when she uses her powers. While the average haunter has eyes and hands which glow red, and a shiny haunter has eyes and hands which glow blue, Abby glows green.
